Pre-School, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten Program Descriptions

Pre-School Programs

Our preschool curriculum encourages children to develop spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically in a safe, nurturing, and friendly environment. The hands-on age-appropriate curriculum is interactive, and activities include, but are not limited to, the following: Religion, Math, Reading, Writing, Science (STREAM), Health and Fine/Gross Motor Skill development. Our curriculum provides plenty of time for play and allows children to practice Social, Emotional, and Cognitive Skills.

◊ The Mother of Sorrows Catholic School 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Program link the elements of instruction, materials and resources

◊    Perfect for students who are not ready for a rigorous Kindergarten experience and need time to develop beginning learning skills as                 well as to grow emotionally and socially.

◊   The robust environment, steeped in expectations that develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, helps students to develop a               deep understanding about themselves in a social society using age-appropriate content.

◊    Instructional practices provide activities in cognitive, social-emotional, language, physical, and spiritual development within the                         foundations or approaches to learning that enable children to explore, understand and reach beyond the "here and now" to challenge             themselves and to experiment and transform information into meaningful content and skills.

◊    The Diocese of Greensburg Transitional Kindergarten Program links the elements of instruction, materials and resources to a                           curriculum framework, fair assessment, and interventions, and learning standards to children's engagement in learning and their                     school success.
